Create Your Own Art Cloth!
Instructor: Rayna Gillman
Day 1: We'll explore working with thickened dyes, paper, tape, and other physical resists, blocking out and overprinting with Thermofax screens. We'll prepare screens for next-day printing with dry dyes and textured objects.
Day 2: Next-day dye printing. You'll "deconstruct" with thickened dyes, make your individual marks on screens and cloth, and discover the magic of dried thickened dyes on the screen. We'll prepare screens for next day.
Day 3: Glue and soy wax resists. Experiment with glue on screens and soy wax on both screens and cloth, using brushes, wood and metal stamps, and other techniques.
Day 4: Free-for-all. We'll add layers and complexity by going back into the cloth and adding finishing touches with whatever process you'd like.
