ESSENCE (Haiku) of LANDSCAPES! COLORS AND SHAPES!

Supply List

•  YOUR Visual journals of art clippings, sketchbooks, drawings & photographs for clues to inspire your work.
•  YOUR current work in slides and/or one of your recent pieces, to show the class.
•  One favorite COLOR PHOTOGRAPH of a landscape, or urban landscape, or smaller subject (close-up)
•  TWO black and white photocopies of this same landscape photograph
•  Rotary cutter and cutting mat; scissors; glass head pins you can iron over
•  Red plexi/plastic clipboard as an aid to see VALUES
•  drawing pencil/eraser, Black Sharpie marker, DRY ERASE marker
•  Two pieces black poster board, approximately 14" x 16"
•  One piece clear lightweight vinyl, approximately ONE YARD square
•  Cotton batting OR batting with fusible approximately ONE YARD, or 36" X 72" for one to two art quilts

Working Tools:

•  small sketch book approx. 12" x 14", to write your HAIKU; 5 small sketches & two 12" x 14" sketches
•  small paint brush, yogurt cup for water, and small Styrofoam meat tray
•  No Sewing Machine , unless you want to begin your top/quilt stitchery
•  Needles for machine if you wish to bring your machine ; hand needles and thread for possible stitchery
•  lamp if needed.......10" lengths PVC pipe (4) to elevate your table
•  Digital camera, and / or reducing glass, or one half an old binocular for viewing tool Fusing Tools:
•  10 yards Wonder Under (as it is narrow) IF YOU bring unfused batting this includes WU for your two pieces poster board, and extra fusing •  (plus a pillowcase with batting inside FOR IRONING SURFACE)
•  Small iron and power cord

Fabrics:


•  Your favorite colors in at least 5 values; hand dyed fabrics if you wish to work with them
•  some prints; (approximately one yard plus its width-of tulle, Black) and/or sheers for accents

PATTY HAWKINS will bring several small quilts, and slides of my work to show working in series. Papers for color value study; Color wheel, Stitch Witchery, Red plexi clipboard to "see" VALUES class samples (one before; one after final machine stitchery); drawings of values, Wonder Under Workshop handouts..... several acrylic paints and brushes..... Styrofoam tray...yogurt cup ic

• 1 small card for Window Viewer ---* 1 sheet clear plastic for quilt line drawing
